Lucid Waters, Lush MountainsDate | 2021.10

Inspired by the ancient Chinese ecological philosophy of harmony between humanity and nature, this series draws from the concept of “the unity of man and nature” (天人合一) found in the I Ching:
“In virtue united with heaven and earth, in brightness united with the sun and moon, in order united with the four seasons...”

The artworks integrate Chinese calligraphy with ink wash landscapes to explore the theme of coexistence between humans and the natural world. Characters such as “Gold” (金), “Silver” (银), and “Mountain” (山) are intricately illustrated with symbolic elements—green mountains, waterfalls, and boatmen—subtly conveying the message that “Lucid waters and lush mountains are themselves invaluable assets.”

By employing poetic "paintings within characters" (字中画), the work captures the beauty of Chinese landscapes while celebrating the depth and elegance of traditional Chinese culture.
